Karen J. Hewitt has a unique skillset in Communications, Leadership, Health and Safety and Lingustics which she has applied to Global Health and Safety Culture over the last 15 years. Six of these years were at Technip, where she played a key role in the HSE Culture improvement of almost 50% over an 8-year period. She then went on to design and deliver a One Company Safety Change Programme for Interserve in 2018. Her methods and stories are detailed in her 2021 book ‘People Power – Transform Your Business in the Era of Safety and Wellbeing.’ Through her own company Leaderlike, she has supported many well-known organisations with their Health and Safety Culture Change efforts, including the British Gas HSE Team who were shortlisted for Health and Safety Team of the Year at the Safety and Health Excellence Awards in 2026. Karen also just received the IIRSM Presidents Commendation Award for her lasting contribution to the Safety and Risk profession in 2026.
