Dr. Eileen Hughes is a globally recognized executive, strategist, and thought leader with more than 20 years of experience transforming safety culture, managing enterprise risk, and driving operational excellence across the energy and chemical industries. A Doctor of Business Administration from Capella University, Dr. Hughes combines rigorous academic insight with frontline leadership experience. Currently serving as Vice President of HSEQ & Compliance at Airgas, Dr. Hughes oversees safety systems, environmental compliance, quality, and process risk strategy across more than 70 locations.
Prior to Airgas, Dr. Hughes held senior leadership roles at Woodside Energy and BHP, where she led global management systems, M&A integration, and sustainability governance for portfolios valued in the billions. At BHP, she identified $9 million in cost reduction opportunities during a major acquisition, achieved an 85% on-time project completion rate, and spearheaded the first globally endorsed operational leadership program in two decades.
Dr. Hughes holds a master’s degree in emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Safety and Environmental Protection from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
